EDUCATIONAL PLANNING
On any given day, an alarming 25 percent of high school students are absent. Attendance for low performing students is even worse – nearly 30 percent of those students don’t show up. These high school students are missing the basic educational requirements for long-term employment and economic security and will not have the tools needed to realize their full potential in life.

The Educational Planning Module reinforces self-esteem and stresses the importance of self-control and discipline in accomplishing educational goals. Participants see that being positive about taking initiative and being persistent in working through issues is critical to staying in school and meeting their long-term objectives.

Participants work in teams to debate the pros and cons of various options after high school, such as full-time employment, vocational training and college. Each participant selects an option that is best for them by weighing the consequences of educational decisions on long-term goals and objectives.

We’ve all heard the maxim “Be cool – stay in school.” This module lets teens explore for themselves how an investment in education would pay off in their lives.
