YLA participants assemble PCs using refurbished machines donated by Urban Tech’s national partners. At the end of the program, participants keep the PCs for home use.
Through the PC Installation & Repair course, teens learn to assemble PCs and to troubleshoot hardware and software problems. By bringing the PCs home, they can practice and refine the applications they learned in the course.
Additionally, these computers serve to connect participants and their families to mentors, schools, job banks, health and human services and other community resources, allowing participants to continue to use their new skills for community involvement and achievement of their goals.
