Urban Tech Develops iTN for CCDO

New York, NY (May 1, 2006) -- The National Urban Technology Center (Urban Tech) has been awarded a contract to create the CCDO Interactive Training Network, an online community of Weed and Seed site coordinators, steering committee members, law enforcement partners, and other stakeholders all over the country.   It will provide multiple modes of communication for more effective networking of personnel and resources within local Weed and Seed communities (or sites), connecting members with other sites all over the country.

It will facilitate effective implementation of the strategy between site coordinators, steering committee members, community residents, stakeholders, and program managers in Washington, D.C.  linking all members of iTN online

iTN links site coordinators to recently updated material, discussion forums, and regional training conference information.  Urban Tech will provide training at national conventions, coordinate regional training operations, and continue phone and email support.

The iTN has its origin in the Interactive Training Manual (ITM), which was initially developed by Urban Tech for Weed and Seed site coordinators.  The ITM grant was awarded to Urban Tech in 2003, the purpose of which was to convert CCDO’s text-based document for site coordinators into an online program.

Urban Tech will conduct workshops to train site coordinators in using the new iTN and integrating the latest technology with their daily work.

Over the past six years, Urban Tech has developed expertise in constructing online, interactive curricula from offline curricula that are static, expensive to distribute, and easily outdated as organizations change.
