| This beginner’s level course teaches participants
computer skills necessary to use a word processor to create documents such
as letters, and flyers. They create visually appealing documents using the
following techniques: clip art, Word Art, bullets, shading, lines, and boxes;
multiple fonts and tables. This curriculum contains five modules: |

Word Processing Fundamentals
|
|
Participants learn the basic skills to use a word processing program. In this module, participants copy documents from a network drive to a new folder, save and retrieve documents, insert and delete text and use error checking tools. They also identify and show toolbars and change the viewing size of a document.

|
Business Letters
|
|
In this module, participants create a business letter. They then print an envelope or mailing label. Participants also learn to insert an automatic date, align text, Auto Recover, AutoCorrect, modify text, and use the cut, copy, paste, and Help functions.

Flyers
|
|
Participants incorporate pictures into word processing documents to create flyers. They learn to modify the page setup, select multiple font types and sizes, use shortcut menus, search for and insert clip art and size and crop graphics.

Tables
|
|
In this module, participants format and create labels and tables. Participants learn to add and delete rows and columns, use hidden text, center a table, adjust column widths and use automatic table formatting tools.

Resumes
|
|
Participants use the skills acquired in the previous four modules to create an effective resume and cover letter. They use alignment buttons, enter multiple paragraphs, add borders and shading and adjust a document size.
