| This course introduces participants to the vast
world of the Internet. Participants acquire useful skill for effective email
account management and Internet Search. They become familiar with online
search and posting resumes in a job bank web site. Participants learn how
to compress and decompress files, download programs from the Web. This curriculum
contains six modules: |

Introduction to the Web
|
| In this module, participants learn how to access
the World Wide Web and understand the potential of that the Internet has
for finding information. Participants open a Web browser, link to specific
websites, use URLs and print Web pages. |

|
Introduction to Email
|
| While learning about electronic mail, participants
create an email account and send, receive, and reply to messages. |
| |
|
Advanced Web
|
| Participants learn effective search techniques
to find information on the Web and how to change browser options. They use
logical connectors, set browser preferences, use bookmarks and history lists
and copy bookmarks. |

|
Advanced Email
|
| In this module, participants learn techniques
to manage email accounts to increase their productivity. They create mail
folders, place messages into folders, filter messages, attach files to email
messages and download attachments. |

|
Internet Resources
|
| Participants become familiar with common file
formats used by the Internet. In this module, participants view file properties,
save text from Web pages, decompress files, copy images and sound clips
from the Internet and download programs from the Web. |
| |
| Job Search |
| In this module, participants learn how to register
with an online job bank web site, post their resume online, perform job
searches, and create job search agents. |
